Ayinger Jahrhundert-Bier

Brauerei Ayinger

Steve: Jahrhundert is German for century. Not sure if this beer is a celebration of the new century (and millenium) or if the brauerei has been around for that long (for the record, the label doesn't say). Only mentioning this cause I don't have much else to write about. This is a basic German lager, pretty much a staple beer, not for special occasions or anything. It was almost boring. Good, and I would have it again (I'd even pay for it), but boring. Maybe I wasn't in the mood. If you've had most other German import light lagers, you've had this, I guess. (12/9/2002)

Rocky: We're used to lagers being clear and crisp, but this is rather cloudy, similar to a wheat beer. Thankfully the taste is also different than our typical lagers, although not extraordinary. 500 ml bottle (about 17 ounces) and absolutely the coolest bottle cap I've every seen. This is good, but not great. (3/13/2004)
