Rocky: I'm becoming a hophead, and it's thanks in part to this beer, as well as the Stone brews I've managed to get my hands on recently. A regular pale ale just doesn't do it for me any more. Even though they get a lot of hop flavor it's still pretty well balanced. The alcohol level at 6.7% proves that they're using plenty of malt to support all those hops, and the flavors play off each other really well. Fantastic brew here, but I've got to put it one notch below the Ruination IPA. Still, if I'm making a current top 3 list, this is on it.

Sam: How on earth did a beer from Pennsylvania wind up in little ol' Texas? The rules of beer distribution continue to befuddle me. Then again, I'm easily befuddled. Regardless, I was really impressed with this beer. Held up to the dazzling sunlight of yet another blazing Texas late summer afternoon, this glows a handsome burnished copper in the glass. Very pleasant hoppy aroma. Flavor is a well-crafted balance of spicy hops and malty sweetness. A special thanks goes out to C.C.'s Package Liquors in Morgan's Point, Texas for keeping such a fresh and interesting beer cooler (shameless promotion, I know, but if you knew the area, you'd understand my gratitude at finding an oasis in the middle of a vast beer desert). Good job, guys! (3/25/2006)
