Steve: I'm not sure if this is one and the same as the Doppio Malto that I had years ago, but I don't care. This one was hand-carried from the land of its birth. You see, a lot of you may have a sister, and think highly of her. However, I can say with certainty I have the best sister in the world. Melissa flew to Italy and brought back a Tiffany vase for my wife, dolls for her nieces, and 5 bottles of beer for me, 2 of them being this wonderful concoction...whose label should be in German it's so good. 7.2% ABV, this makes me want to welcome Winter with open arms. Rich malty flavor, alcoholic finish, and just damn good. (4/23/2005)

Steve: It had a pretty soapy finish, which doesn't belong in beer, my friends. That was after the first couple of sips, though. It got better as it went along. Definitely malty, somewhat smooth. This is the Italian answer to a double bock, the German winter beer. I'd stick with the German version in the future, or the Dutch, for that matter.

Steve: This lager is the first Italian beer I ever tried, and I have to say that I was not optomistic. Which means when I found out how good it was, I was surprised as hell, and I really enjoyed it. I had it at a nice Mediterranean restaurant, and it really hit the spot with my Paella. It's really just a basic lager (albeit a well made one, something Bud hasn't quite accomplished), but for some reason its latin roots helps Italian or Spanish food taste better.

Steve: "Nastro Azzurro" is not, despite what you may think, Italian for "Soap Poisoning." In fact, unlike normal, I was so concerned with getting this review right, that I found out (courtesy of Babel Fish) that it means "Blue Ribbon." Are you f@#$ing kidding me? This is Peroni Blue Ribbon? Are they hoping millions of 20-something American douchebags will flock to this like they do to Pabst Blue Ribbon? Unfortunately, I don't see that happening, as I indicated at the beginning of this review this beer tastes more like soap than anything else. Peroni Blue Ribbon. What are they going to do next, steal Olympia's slogan? è l'acqua? (3/15/2008)

Steve: Comes in a 33 cl stubby bottle, which means Canadians would like it (especially if they stuck a mouse inside it). This reminds me of a basic party beer, and I bet it's the choice of Italian college students. Hmmph, who am I kidding, they're probably drinking Bud too. I would definitely choose this over Bud, but not over Peroni or Moretti, for what that's worth. A decent beer for after mowing the lawn, but not much more. (5/7/2005)
