Steve: In the grand tradition of TOBP, I will attempt a half-assed translation of the name of this beer...."Golden Money." I only suggest that because there's a picture of what looks like a coin on the label, and I seem to recall Poland's currency being the Denar. Or maybe I'm thinking of another country. Anyway, this could be one of the first Polish beers that didn't taste like it was either poured through a drain pipe, had coins soaking in it, or stored in a metal bucket. In fact, it was a halfway decent Pilsner-style lager, with a hop aroma and light malty flavor. Not bad at all. Not great, but there wasn't anything offensive about it that will make me cringe at the thought of drinking it. (12/10/2005)

Kris: Ack, my beer tastes are growing. I've had this beer before. Granted, it was in a different bottle with a different label, but it was very similar to this. I gave that a crappy review. This one, I'm proud to say, doesn't suck. (1/22/2005)

Steve: Poland really needs to kick it into gear and start impressing me, or I'm going to completely give up on their beers. This didn't impress me at all. It had a sharply bitter, fairly acidic flavor from the hops, but not in any good way that I can think of. Light bodies straw colored, and stale smelling overall. Nice picture of a castle on the label. I'm sure in real life it's a pretty place, and I'm betting the Germans and Russians thought so themselves when they occupied it 350 out of the last 400 years. Sorry, was that harsh? Yeah, well so was this beer. (9/3/2005)

Kris: Knowing plenty of Polish jokes, I never had the courage to try an actual Polish beer, fearing it would taste like water, or cola, or coffee, or anything but beer. But thanks to Michelangelo Siracki at Cracovia, I was able to try some fantastic brews. I could go through the usual boring beer review crap, how this beer has a great, fresh taste, no skunk whatsoever, no aftertaste, not too strong, yadda yadda yadda, but I'd rather ask you a question: How do you get a one-armed Polack out of a tree? Wave to him! (God I'm sorry. Even though this was a great beer, I just couldn't resist.)

Tim: The bar keep at the Polish Combatants Hall told me this was similar to Stella. Well he must have a much higher opinion of Stella than I do. This beer was much better than that. It tasted fresh and light, little carbonation, and really hit the spot. I'd order this again if I ever found myself back at the Polish Combatants Hall. (7/19/2009)

Steve: I think it goes without saying (yet I'll say it anyway), I was not expecting anything great from a beer called O.K. Imagine running across a beer called, "Meh Beer," or "Alright Beer." It doesn't exactly elicit positive thoughts. However, this pale lager from Poland wasn't all that bad. It was a bit more alcoholic than standard American or Central European lagers, at 5.4% ABV, so the 1/2 liter bottle gave you the feeling as though you actually drank something. It was slightly floral from the hops, but not too terribly bitter. I'll say it was a little better than just O.K. Good, but not great. (5/7/2011)

Steve: Most of the Polish beers I've had have had a rather sharp hop flavor to them. Either that, or they suffered from the same QC problem as Lithuanian breweries, that being the use of rusty waste-water drain pipes in their brewing process. This was a lot more mild then those others, which was ironic, because this had more alcohol than any other I've had, at 6.2%. I barely noticed it. Seeing as how it was a half-liter bottle, you'd think I would've had some effect from the alcohol, but I didn't. I don't know, maybe it wasn't really 6.2%. Or maybe I finally need a 12-step program. Who knows? (7/16/2005)

Tim: I may have rated this a little low as I drank it on a full stomach of perogies and cabbage rolls. This has a nice strong beer taste. There's that sweet bread taste in here, but there's enough bitterness to balance it. It finishes dry with a nice alcoholic warmth. I'd seek this one out and try it again. (9/12/2009)

Kris: Normally I don't like porters. Pick your reason, they're too thick, too strong, they have all these extra flavors, whatever. But this was different. Yeah, it was thick, and strong, and it had this chocolate-ish flavor to it, but there was more. Unfortunately, it was stronger than I'm used to, so I don't remember what that "more" was. Ok, so I'm a lightweight. So what. I leave most reviews to Steve. Anyway, I can't read Polish, but there's a 9.5% on the label, and if that's the alcohol content, this would make a lightweight out of most of you, too. Another good thing about this was it got me through some stupid movie on VH1 about a one-hit wonder band called the Wonders. Big plus there.

Kris: After a bad experience with a foil-topped beer in the past, I was leery when I saw this bottle. This was my second try at a Polish beer. I was thinking, sure, the first beer I tried was excellent, but there is no way they could do it again. Especially with that shiny gold foil sparkling at me. So I sipped it, and without gagging, declared myself wrong. I finished this beer in record time, partly because I had just cleaned the entire house, mostly because it was honestly a great beer. Thanks again to Cracovia for the opportunity to try this. (By the way, what was that one-armed Polack doing in the tree? Raking leaves! Oh, I'm going to hell)

Steve: Not all that bad a lager, but not that great. This had kind of a skunky flavor, a little bit stale tasting. Not as nasty and metallic as those you find from former Soviet states, but for the most part absolutely unremarkable. I think this was missing a nice malty flavor, which made it kind of weak. Might've been better fresh, but because I live in Atlanta, that situation is not likely to improve.
