Steve: The Beck's of Denmark. One of only a couple of Danish imports readily available. Crisp flavor, pilsnerish, almost, but stronger. If I had my choice among lagers, I'd choose this over Bud or Moosehead. I recommend this because it doesn't leave you wanting to die the morning after.

Steve: While the label does note that it is a "malt liquor," it is only due to the considerable alcohol amount for a lager, which our country requires. Don't worry, this is probably not sold in such pleasant locales as south Memphis and Harlem. However, I see a pattern (started with Moosehead) with beers named after animals with questionable hygiene. This did have a kick, and much of it was due to the smell. Very much normal for European lagers that spent a goodly amount of time sitting at a pier in Port Elizabeth before being allowed into the US.

Steve: Basic light beer, no bells and whistles. Largely unimpressive, which is probably why I can't find this in the US. We already have so many such beers. Nothing to write home about and separate it from the pack, so it'll have to suffer in points. This is a partner brand of Labatt, but it's a Danish company, so it's presumably a Danish recipe. So, we'll file this under Denmark and lodge the blame with them.

Steve: Originally one of the 2 main breweries in Denmark, Tuborg has since been bought out. Nice, crisp lager, light malty flavor, with a little hop presence, this is a good summer beer. It's similar to Becks or Heineken, but you'll notice a stronger flavor, I think. I brought a few over for my neighbor Bob to try, and after giving one sip, he proclaimed that it tasted like food. So, if you're used to drinking nothing but Coors Light, you might find this a bit strong, but otherwise, I think you'll be OK with this.

Rocky: I had to check the website to make sure this was a different beer than was previously reviewed by Steve. This does have a gold label, but it says "Imported", where one (which has a green label for some reason) says "Gold Label". That should be worth a point deduction alone for moronic labeling. I'll assume they're two seperate beers, although the quality is apparently similar. This smells like Heineken, but tastes to me a little bit more full or rich or something. Slightly metallic, but not bad. Not that great either. It'll do, and I'll gladly drink another if it's free, but there are better lagers to pay import prices for. (8/7/2004)
